During this session, we will explore some of the 'hidden treasures' of PowerPoint - features that can be used to make your presentations effective and efficient. We will also discuss guidelines for design and development.
And just when you think you've seen all that presentations can do, we'll explore some alternatives to PowerPoint - including presentation blogs, Prezi, VoiceThread, Google Apps, and more!

What's Involved?
This session will be held entirely online. We will use Blackboard as our classroom, where I'll be posting videos and articles. We will use the Discussion Board to communicate with each other, share comments and feedback, and debate issues.
There will be hands-on activities throughout the session to allow you an opportunity to explore new tools and features and to practice your newfound skills.
As with any learning opportunity, the more you put into it the more you get out of it!
For those who may be new to learning online, I assure you, it's a surprisingly personable experience. I think you'll be amazed at how quickly we form relationships - not to mention how easily we'll find it to communicate with one another.

What Will I Get Out of It?
Besides having a lot of fun, our goal is to improve and increase your presentation skills. We'll be exploring features of PowerPoint that may be new to you. We'll be discussing guidelines and techniques for creating and delivering powerful presentations. And we'll expermiment with innovative alternatives to PowerPoint.
I think you'll find these new skills to be beneficial in your classroom, business, non-profit, volunteer organization, etc. Wherever you find the need to present information - whether to provide information, persuade audiences, or entertain a crowd - you'll be able to put your newfound skills to good use!

What Do I Need to Know?
Since this is an online session, you should have reliable access to the Internet. Other than that, anyone and everyone can find success in this session! You do not need to have any previous experience with PowerPoint or presentations. You do, however, need to be ready to have fun!
